I have to try on so many jeans before I can find a pair that fits (well that I can zip up and still breath and cuff at the bottom to make them look like they fit). I can never find a bra that doesn't bite me or make we want to rip it off the second I get home from work. These buttons on my blouse have been popping open all morning and just want to wear my flip flops all day every day because these shoes are giving me blisters! Ugh...Who designed these clothes?
You are a nut but actually you are the one brave enough to go public as we all have our "comfy pants" or at least some other "go-to-comfy".
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed!!! I just went into my dresser to count my comfy pants and I only have 9 pair.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right - work clothes do suck and I too shed them as soon as I walk in the door. Comfy pants + oversized t-shirt = Heaven! :)

Work clothes don't suck if you buy quality clothes that fit you. Same goes with the shoes.
ReplyDeleteJust because something is made of quality materials and technically "fits" you, doesn't mean that it is comfortable. Also, if you have been following this blog you should realize that the amount of time and effort it takes to actually find clothes that fit properly is insane! I'm not sure if you are a very small and skinny person and therefore have no trouble finding clothes that fit, or perhaps you are a man, but either way, you clearly don't understand the plight of the average woman when it comes to buying clothing.
DeleteHmmm, thanks for the comment but I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you. I purchase good quality (Banana Republic, Lane Bryant, Talbots, Seven), middle quality (Land’s End, Gap, Eddie Bauer, NY &Co.) and lower quality (Target, Old Navy) clothes and they've all provided me the same level of discomfort. I'll concede that often the higher quality clothing lasts longer due to the craftsmanship but not always and frankly these days it hardly matters because it seems all designers, Gucci to Mossimo, are using thinner fabrics because it’s fashionable and these thin fashionable fabric result in the clothes practically biodegrading in the wash. However, if you’ve been reading this blog you may have a different idea of what is quality and what is cheap as I have posted prices previously; see “At Work in a Crooked Dress” I hardly think a dress that costs over $50 and $40 bra are cheap.
DeleteThat being said I believe the same goes for shoes. Yes, I think the finish on a pair of heels from Macy’s for example will be finer and more detailed allowing you to wear them longer then a pair from Pay Less but most women will agree that a heel is a heel and they survive wearing the for few hours without getting a blister they’re still going to end up with an aching back and sore feet before the day is over.
Haha...I love comfy pants. I too rush home just to get out of my suits just to put them on and relax. As a person who invests a lot of time and money into finding work clothes/shoes I must disagree with the previous comment. Quality in no way, shape or form equals comfortable!! Quality simply means it is made with superior materials that not only look better but will last longer than the "cheap" stuff.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous I don't know what magical land you shop in because I spend a LOT of money on HIGH quality clothes and shoes and they are not comfortable. I guess if I were a size two in clothes and a size 6 in shoes, as the designers intended all women to be, things would always fit and be comfortable. But that is the whole point of this blog isn't it? To say that the MAJORITY of women aren't a size 2 yet clothes continue to be designed for that figure and that as a result the MAJORITY of women are uncomfortable. So I will continue to spend a fortune on size 11 shoes that I have to drive all over the place to find and when I do find them i'll stop at the bank to take out a second mortgage. Of course after doing this my bunions will still kill me and i'll wind up in my $5 flip flops anyway. Then i'll trudge to the Plus Sise store where they charge me an arm and a leg to buy clothes that fit, but they'll look stupid on me because they are designed to try to make me look like I'm size two which I most certainly am not OR the shirts will look awful because they assume that if you are plus size you have a FFF cup size. Not to mention even though they are supposed to cater to plus size women they, for some reason, believe that our arms are supposed to be magically skinny because every damn shirt has a cap sleeve.
ReplyDeleteSo to anonymous I say I am jealous. It must be nice to live in a land where you can spend your hard earned money on quality items that fit and all is wonderful. This is a land I have never visited and likely never will. As a side note it almost sounds as if you are saying that those with a lot of money are the only ones that will get clothes and shoes that fit them. So in essence also supporting the point of the blog as well. It's not only plus size women, but lower income women as well who are uncomfortable in their clothes. As well all know qith "quality" there comes a price.
